Executive Partnerships

A business–education partnership is an agreement of collaboration between schools and businesses, unions, governments or community organizations. These partnerships are established by agreement between two or more parties to establish goals, and to construct a plan of action for achievement of those goals.

They also serve to strengthen instruction in academic skills and to enrich the educational process through the talents and ideas of the personnel of participating businesses.

These business-education partnership programs were developed by the Council for Educational Change and the Florida Council of 100, in partnership with the Florida Department of Education. This partnering of: (1) a dedicated principal, familiar with a school’s challenges and skilled in school management and instruction, along with (2) a successful business person able to provide invaluable leadership mentoring and access to strategic community resources, and (3) an educational coach, with years of expertise in education and contacts throughout the school system, has proven to be an effective mechanism for initiating and maintaining positive change in numerous schools throughout Florida

Over the years the Council’s executive partnership programs have aligned business mentors with hundreds of schools throughout Florida. These partnerships helped build leadership capacity and provided incredible resources for program schools, impacting communities, student academic performance, and creating a culture of excellence.

PARTNERSHIP TO ADVANCE SCHOOL SUCCESS

PASS, the Council’s premier program is a three year leadership mentoring program that partners a CEO, (who commits to donating $100,000 over 3 years), with a principal and an education coach. Together they develop a business plan and infuse business strategies into school improvement efforts. These funds are matched with a legislative allocation directed through the Florida Department of Education and managed by the Council for Educational Change.
